Cadets - A boys club

Cadets is a boys club for grades 3 through 6. We meet on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:45 pm during the school year. It is often described as similar to boy scouts but with more Christian emphasis.

Meeting schedule:

  • Week 1: Bible lesson and games
  • Week 2: Craft
  • Week 3: Merit badge

In the Bible lesson we talk about issues that boys face and what the Bible has to say about them. One of the topics we covered recently was bullying. As counselors we always try to set an example of what it means to live a Christian life. We try to pick games that all the boys enjoy.

We make lots of fun crafts like: rocket launchers, marshmallow shooters, bird feeders, trivets, plant stands, derby car stands, etc. On merit badge night we work on merit badges as a group. Examples of merit badges are: Bible knowledge, archery, marksmanship, plastic models, baking and woodworking.

In addition to our meetings we have lots of fun events throughout the year. We make pine wood derby cars and race them in May. Some of our annual events are: swim night, canoeing or demolition derby, christmas party, snow tubing or snow derby, cadet campout. Our campout is usually the last weekend of July at a state park. Most of these events are done as part of the Cascade Council which also include the Bellevue, Olympia and Everett clubs.
